MOVE
BEJA AND BEDUINS
The temporary stay in one place and the subsequent migration characterise the architecture of nomadic peoples: the transportable dwellings do not remain as ruins, as the materials are preserved in the construction and dismantling cycle. In some places, however, the original tent shapes are adapted to the changed climate. The Beja, who live in the east of Sudan, continue to use woven mats in desert areas to cover the underlying wooden structure, while near the coast on the Red Sea they use fabric and plastic sheeting. The coastal region is experiencing increasingly heavy rainfall.
