When peoples such as the Gabbra give up their nomadic lifestyle, they continue to use the tents for certain purposes, but erect permanent huts in their settlement. Relocations of the Gabbra, who live in northern Kenya, are decreasing. However, when a newly married person follows their partner to a new place, the camels are still loaded with the dismantled tents – proof that this knowledge has not been lost.
