BORANA AND KONSO

The ruins of the Borana huts reveal their structures. They consist of several dome-shaped dwelling elements, joined together to form one building. Water shortages meant that the Borana had to abandon their villages in the north of their settlement area in the southern part of Ethiopia. They let the huts fall into disrepair, but held on to their settlement area. Some people remained armed in order to secure the territory for their later return. The buildings of the Borana differ depending on the region, so clay and brick buildings are also found.
